RenjiXIchigo Yaoi

I turned in my bed, thinking. My room in Urahara’s shop was cold and I curled up to get warm. My mind raced in circles and I closed my eyes. “Stop…” I whispered to myself. “Stop thinking. Get to sleep.”
But I couldn’t.
I sat upright and grabbed my soul candy. I popped it into my mouth and headed out into the streets of Karakura town. The cool breeze tossed my long red hair back, which I hadn’t bothered to put up.
If I was lucky, I could find a stray hollow and distract myself temporarily. These ridiculous cravings wouldn’t stop if I kept going on how I was.
I turned down the street and froze. “Damn!” I cursed. I had subconsciously walked here, of all places! I turned and started to walk back, but then I stopped. Maybe he would be awake. Maybe I could just see him.
I jumped up onto his windowsill and looked in at him. He was asleep, sprawled across the top of the bed. His shirt was off and his covers had been thrown to the ground.
No! I told myself, firmly. Walk away. Leave it.
Just then his eyes opened. He sat up, staring at me. He opened the window, looking confused. “Renji? What are you doing here?”
I jumped into his room and folded my arms. My mind raced to come up with an excuse. “I’m hungry. Urahara has been practically starving me and I figured you’d have food.” There. That works.
Ichigo sighed and got out of bed. “Wait here.” He told me, and then left.
I sat on his bed and did as I was told. Before long, he came back with a sandwich made up for me. I ate it, hungrily, as he sat next to me on the bed.
“Thanks.” I muttered, wiping my face.
“Do you need anything else?” Ichigo asked. I looked at him and saw a peculiar look on his face. What was with this guy?
“Um, no. I’m fine.” I grinned at him. “Although I may stay here for a while. Everywhere else is boring.”
He nodded and looked down. I frowned. Why was he acting so strange? He looked up at me and grinned back. “I never said you could stay here.”
WHAT?! “I can stay if I want!” I said, glaring.
“Whatever. It won’t be much fun anymore. I’m going to sleep.” He lay down on the bed and closing his eyes.
“Hey, hey!” I said, loudly. “What’s that for? I just got here!”
He sat straight up, his face inches from mine. “Shut up! I’m trying to sleep! If you don’t like it go somewhere else!’
I couldn’t breathe. Why was he so close to me? What was he playing at? “Don’t tell me to shut up!” I said, moving half an inch closer. “I’m the guest here!”
“More like freeloader!” He replied, closing most of the distance between our faces. “And if you won’t shut up, I’ll make you!”
He grabbed my head and pulled his lips to mine. My eyes widened and my heart stopped beating. Then I realized why he’d been acting so strange. What the weird looks had meant.
I kissed him harder, and pushed him back on to the bed. Our lips moved in time, running down each other’s necks and cheeks, up to the ears. Everywhere.
Our breathing was ragged when we finally pulled away.
“Ichigo….” I whispered.
He smirked at me and lay his head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around him and smiled to myself. This was really happening. I finally had him in my arms.

Bleach FanFic-prologue

My eyes closed. I let the rain seep into my skin.
Rain….
Just like that night. The night I would always remember so clearly….



I opened my eyes to see the smoldering wreck of the plane. I had survived? I tried to stand but my body wouldn’t obey me.
But, wait….
I wasn’t in my body. My body would have been damaged severely in the crash. I wasn’t even scratched. How?
My mind spun and I closed my eyes, trying to make sense of it all. I was dead. There was no way I could have survived the crash. But how was I alive enough to think all this? Maybe I was a ghost. I’d never believed such things before but now I had no other option to believe it now.
Then I heard someone approaching. A whole crowd of people. I opened my eyes just enough to see a bunch of people staring in wide-eyed horror at the crash. Some women were crying. One child saw a body and screamed. Others had out their cell phones, no doubt calling an ambulance or something.
I forced my body to stand up and looked around. Nobody looked at me and nobody seemed to be shocked that someone had survived the crash.
Right, I reminded myself, that’s because I didn’t.
That was when it started to rain. The clouds that had been threatening to burst since that morning shattered in the sky. I reached my hand out but the droplets of water seemed to go right through me.
I am a ghost. I am not here. I told myself, firmly.
Then I felt a hand on my shoulder. I jumped. Someone could see me! Someone could touch me! I spun around and saw Micah, my cousin.
“You’re alive!” I said, happily. I caught her in a big hug.
“I don’t think so.” She said, hugging me back. “My body’s over there. And yours is there.” She pointed at our bodies. As far as I could tell she was right. They were both bloody messes.
“Where’s Lizzy?” I asked, gripped by a sudden fear.
“I don’t know. Let’s look.” Micah took my shaking hand and pulled me forward. We walked around the crash until we found my sister. She was unconscious.
We woke her up by gently shaking her and she looked at us, confused. “Are we in heaven?” She whispered.
“No. Heaven wouldn’t be such a gruesome place.” Micah replied.
Lizzy sat up and looked around before asking “How the hell did we survive?”
“We didn’t.” I said. “I think we’re ghosts.”
“I don’t believe in ghosts.” Lizzy said, standing up shakily. We helped her.
“Then how else do explain this?” I replied. “Our bodies are all messed up and disgusting, but we’re standing here without a scratch.”
She didn’t answer me. She walked over to a man talking on his cell phone in rapid Japanese. She seemed to be trying to say something to him but he ignored her. She turned back to us.
“Okay,” She said, “Maybe something’s up.”
I figured that then wouldn’t have been the appropriate time to say ‘I told you so.’
That’s when I saw him. Or rather, Micah saw him and pointed him out to us. He was tall, with dark brown hair and a small brown goatee. He wore black robes and he carried a long sword, which was drawn. He was making the other victims disappear.
I looked around and realized for the first time that there was two of everybody who had died. One was all bloody and disfigured, the other was in perfect health. He was making the latter disappear. He would press the hilt of their sword to their foreheads and they would shimmer then…. Vanish.
We watched in wonder.
He saw us and walked over to where we were standing.
“You all are awake?” He said to us.
Lizzy and I were speechless. He could see us? But Micah responded. “Obviously. Who are you?”
“I am a shinigami; Anari Hinagoi, seventh seat in division 7. I’m here to protect Karakura town and to send souls on. You guys are souls, so I’m going to send you on.” He answered, shortly.
“Souls…” Lizzy said. She turned to me. “I told you we aren’t ghosts.”
“Wait,” Micah put up a hand, “Where are you going to send us?”
“To soul society.” He said. “Come on. You can get all the answers to everything there; I have a job to do and not much time to waste. All these souls are bound to attract hollows.”
“Hollows?” I asked.
“Get answers there.” He replied, impatiently. “I’m sending you on now. Good bye!”
He touched the hilt of his sword to my forehead. After a few seconds pause he did it again. His brow furrowed and he hit me again much harder. I stumbled backwards then brought my hand forward. My palm connected with his cheek and it was his turn to stumble back.
“WHAT THE HELL?” I shouted. “THAT FUCKING HURT!”
“WELL, IT’S NOT MY FAULT!” He bellowed back at me. “YOU’RE THE ONE WHO’S GOT TOO MUCH REITSU FOR ME TO SEND YOU ON!”
“IF YOU KNEW THAT, THEN WHY DID YOU HIT ME SO HARD?!” I screamed.
“BECAUSE I DIDN’T KNOW UNTIL AFTER I HIT YOU THAT HARD! BESIDES, YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO SLAP ME!”
“HELL YEAH I DID!” I raised my hand, threatening to do it again. “SOMEONE NEEDS TO TEACH YOU A GOD DAMN LESSON! YOU CAN’T GO AROUND TREATING PEOPLE LIKE SHIT!”
“CATE!” Micah caught my hand as I was about to bring it down again. “This coming from the girl who tries to pick a fight with everyone she meets?” She turned to Anari. “Sorry about her. She’s got a quick temper.”
He rubbed his cheek and ignored her apology as he examined Micah and Lizzy. He tilted his head back and sighed. “You three are so troublesome. You all have about the same amount of reitsu. I can’t send any of you on normally. I’ll call my captain and ask him what to do. You guys stay right here and keep out of trouble.”
I flipped him off as he left. Micah glared at me sharply. Lizzy looked at both of us and rolled her eyes. Everything seemed normal at that moment. It seemed as though we were just having a normal interaction on any normal day.
Except that day was not normal. That was the day we died. That was the day everything changed.



Three years later I stood looking out at seretei from the school yard. I was dressed in a black robe with a white sash trying it together. I turned my head and saw Micah and Lizzy walking towards me across the yard dressed the same.
“Congratulations!” I cried out, throwing my arms around Micah and Lizzy as soon as they were close enough. “We’re all officially shinigami now!”
“I know!” Micah hugged me back. “It’s crazy! After only three years in the academy, too!”
It was true. We had all excelled in all our classes and had been offered ranked positions in different divisions after three years so we graduated three years early. Lizzy was 10th seat in division 6, Micah was 9th seat in division 5 and I was 8th seat in division 3. The taichou of division 5 was Sosuke Aizen, Lizzy’s taichou was Kaname Tousen and mine….
I nearly fainted just thinking about it. Gin Ichimaru, whom I had admired ever since he and Aizen had visited the academy in our first year, was my new taichou. I didn’t know exactly what about him drew me in. He seemed observant and fairly quiet. He had let his taichou do most of the talking. Maybe it was his smile which was always there. Perhaps it was the air of mystery he held. Whatever it was, I looked up to him like a daughter would to a father.
“In celebration I’ll buy all of us sake!” I announced, stepping back and looking at them.
“I don’t drink, love.” Lizzy said.
“Me either.” Micah said.
“Well, you guys are no fun. What if I buy you candy?” I offered.
They brightened up like a child on his birthday. And that’s what they were; children. They didn’t drink, they ate candy.
We worked our way through the crowded streets of the Rukongai district to a little candy shop owned by a kind old woman. We each got a little bag of sweets and headed back in to Seretei, stopping quickly to buy me some sake. When we got back it was late and nobody was in sight.
“Where is everybody?” Lizzy asked, looking around. “Even though it’s late, there should be people out.”
“I don’t know.” Micah looked down a street and then back at us.
“Well, this is weird.” I said, leaning against a wall. I didn’t like being confused.
Lizzy pulled me forward, and we wandered towards the center of Seretei.
“Hey!” We all jumped and spun around. I drew my zanpakuto, Lizzy crouched like a snake waiting to spring and Micah glared at the shinigami approaching us as if she was evaluating him. Apparently she didn’t find anything threatening about him because she relaxed slightly.
“What are you all doing out? Don’t you know that a warning was issued tonight? You all are supposed to be in your rooms.” The shinigami had his zanpakuto drawn, too.
“Then what are you doing out here?” Micah asked him, stepping forward.
“I’m a guard, ain’t I? In case you don’t know, guards guard.” He narrowed his eyes. “now ge-”
“I don’t like you.” I said and he stopped short. “I think I should kill you.” I tilted my zanpakuto so the tip was pointing towards him and tilted my head.
“Cate!” Micah said, glaring at me. “If there was a warning issued that means something bad has happened. Saying things like that is only going to get you put under suspicion. And us too, since we’re with you.” She turned to the guard. “Sorry about her. She’s got a quick temper. Anyway,” She continued, “what was this warning issued about?”
The guard lowered his sword slightly and said, “There was a murder last night and we haven’t caught the culprit yet.”
“Murder?” Lizzy said, standing up. “Who was killed?”
“The guards of the record library were the victims. And there were some missing records. That’s all I know though, so don’t go asking me any more questions.” He sheathed his zanpakuto and turned away. “Just get yourselves back to your quarters.”
I glanced at Micah, and she nodded. I smiled and came up behind him. I placed my sword at his throat and pinned his arms to his side.
“If I were the murderer,” I whispered, “you would be dead. You never sheathe your zanpakuto around an enemy, nor do you turn your back on them. You don’t know that it wasn’t us; you’re just trusting your gut feeling. You’re so lucky it was right this time but your gut feeling might lead you astray and you’ll wind up dead. You don’t know who the enemy is, so don’t underestimate any suspects and suspect everyone.” I moved my sword away from his neck, and spun his around. “Guards guard, right?” He nodded quickly. “Then guard. Got it?” He nodded again.
Micah’s hand was on my shoulder. “Calm down. I bet you’ve taught him enough for tonight.”
We left him standing there rubbing his neck.

“Who are you?”
I asked her and she made no reply.
“What are you?”
I asked her and she made no reply.
“Where are you? I’ve been looking for you. Where did you go?”
I asked her and she made no reply.
“Why won’t you speak to me?”
I asked and she made no reply.
“If we don’t talk now, we may never do so.”
I said to her and she made no reply.
“Don’t make me go.”
I told her.
“I’m scared of the world out there. I feel safe in here. I feel safe with you. I can hide.”
She told me to go.
So I did.
